Phillips Exeter Academy, often ranked as the single best preparatory high school, serves as the foundation for the renowned Exeter math curriculum used in our after-school program.
The curriculum is celebrated for its distinctive approach to mathematical education. Rejecting traditional textbooks, the curriculum relies solely on problem sets. These carefully crafted problem sets, iterated and improved upon for generations, challenge students to think critically, solve complex problems, and cultivate a deep understanding of mathematical concepts.
This program is for exceptional math students in grades 5-8 who have not yet had any formal algebra education. Students will work in groups of 2-4 twice weekly with other gifted students to engage with the Exeter Math 1 curriculum over the course of 1 school year. The curriculum covers subjects found in any standard Algebra 1 curriculum but is enriched and expanded to provide a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of foundational mathematical principles.
